Sonic the Hedgehog 2 debuted on the Sega Genesis console back in 1992. The original title included just Sonic, but this sequel stood out because Tails appeared to support him. While Super Mario Bros had players guiding Mario and Luigi on their own, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 let users control Sonic with Tails side by side, which was groundbreaking at the time.
